Also, I loved that this is like, the first time the Winchesters have been anywhere near the South since 1x13 "Route 666," unless I'm mistaken. I can't remember whether 3x01 is in Shreveport or simply mentions Shreveport; and 3x11 "Mystery Spot" was, of course, in Florida. But is Florida a state, or a different planet? And uhhh I'm going to assume 2x08 "Crossroad Blues" was in the south, I guess. Okay, fine. XP I'm probably missing some other southerly ventures here, but this is the first time since 1x13 SPN has made a DRAMATIC POINT about setting something in the South, in any case!
Is it the dearth of Canadians/actors generally who can do a southern accent? Is it the complete un-likeness of Vancouver to any of these delta states? (Not that that's ever stopped them elsewhere. :P) Or is it because the south is home to so many vampire dynasties the hunting world has declared that part of the country a lost cause? I mean, Lestat and company are there, the True Blood folks are there, even The Vampire Diaries takes place in Virginia and talks about the Civil War a lot... And George R. R. Martin's vampire novel, Fevre Dream is set in the south, as well.
I guess you gotta cut your losses somewhere! "You can have the South, Alaska, and Hawai'i. Also, Canada, because I'm pretty sure Dick Roman gave it to Crowley a few years ago."
