Fandom Potpurri Special Edition: Writing is Hard

1. The comments to my last post really make me want to rewatch Six Feet Under. Like, really badly.

2. Having slept even more on that weird S8 Dean!fic I posted, I still think it's weird; but in a way that almost kind of works. What don't work with the rest of the fic, though, are the title and the last scene. The latter are aligned with the fic I wanted to write, and the fic I planned to write, but don't actually match the scenes I actually wrote. Those, I just kind of let wander into whatever they wanted to do; and while I do kinda like where they went, what goes down in them in no way earns that last scene? And therefore does not earn the title, either?

So some scene in between the penultimate and ultimate scenes needs to do that work. But at the same time, I don't think a traditional emotional trajectory/epiphany is really in keeping with the nature of the fic. I almost feel like it's more in keeping with S8 if that scene doesn't happen, and Dean's scenes just kind of float the way they are, without leading into anything at all.

But no, wait, that's not even entirely true, because around 8x18/8x20 I do think Dean finds something to hold to. So it's not like the moment isn't there.

To omit last scene and change the title, or to find a non-hinky bridge to last scene? A question for the ages.

Hm, I kind of like posting alpha-written stuff here and using this journal as an actual writing space. I find the practice really helpful, I mean--to be able to have an official something that I can tweak until it's cross-post appropriate. (And somehow actually posting it to this journal makes it feel different than just having it as a file.) Transparency is the name of the game! But is that weird as hell? XP Should I say, "hey guys, this is alpha-written, subject to change"? BUT WHAT IF I CHANGE MY MIND...

Seriously though. Is that weird as hell? Is this acceptable Livejournal behavior?

3. 'Cause this for sure is weird as hell: I was going through my notebook to find some scenes for a fic I've been "working" on since 2010. It was originally set in S6, and while emotionally it worked there, logically it didn't, really. XD I've since re-set it in S9 and now logically, it makes a lot more sense. Emotionally, uh. Well, we'll see. Still working on that. And I guess the basic premise works logically. What follows from that hinges on a logic that is basically just "Sam is really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really awesome, okay???"

I SEE NO ISSUE WITH THIS LOGIC. But uh, I feel like Sam might. XP Hence why my logic problem is now an emotional one.

Anyway, I found a lot of other super random lines that don't appear to have anything to do with anything, most of which I DO NOT remember the context for.

In one of then, S7!Sam is like, DUDE WE JUST SPENT TEN GRAND ON NEW IDENTITIES; WE'VE SPENT WEEKS LIVING IN DARK, WET HOLES, EATING OTHER PEOPLE'S STUPID SEA RATIONS. YOU ARE NOT GOING SUICIDAL ON ME NOW, DEAN. TEN FUCKING GRAND. WE'RE OUT TEN GRAND. SO NO, NOT AN OPTION.

I think it was frustrated!Sam employing a tactic he thought Dean might be receptive to, but I'm just like, lol, did I seriously write that? XP My god.

And then there's:

Castiel -> sectarianism/babel -> blindness to other magic -> language - frustrated because self, not angelic quality.

Which... what does that even mean???

And then, apparently, a three line 9x02 tag!fic. Poor Irv. Poor, shafted, plot-irrelevant Irv:

"Are you copascetic?"

"Am I--what?"

"Sorry. Just thinking about Irv."

Please tell me the rest of you have notes you do not understand, either. XD Or drawer!fic (e.g. fic written for the drawer, and/or fic that just never made it out of the drawer). If you're willing, I'd love to see yours! :D
