Last night I had a dream that involved, among a good many other things, insinuations of Dean/Rowena (what) and Winchesters and unnamed ill-sketched one-off friend doing things that ultimately led to a bunch of former military officer hunters (all young, so post-9/11 trained, and having served) being brutally slaughtered by hellhounds.
In this dream's universe anyone killed by a hellhound goes to Hell, which I'm not even sure is true, but this ended up being the beginning of some kind of strategic play on Hell's part, sort of akin to an amped up version of Abaddon's early S9 plans. The implication was that Hell would be claiming a different set of skills/experience with their souls, given that Heaven was not in a position to police who got killed by Hellhounds and dragged to Hell. Hell's long game was that by taking these souls and their knowledge to the Pit, they would slowly change the culture and bearing of demons themselves, and cash in on this transformation looooong after (centuries after) Sam or Dean or any of this present mess were surely dead and gone, and without legacy, so to speak. Which I guess set things up for the BMoL to be relevant in some partnership kind of way?
But anyway most of the dream was vividly about the visuals that accompany getting killed by a giant black dog, both when you can see the dog and when you can't. We're talking arterial spurts and the physics of being tackled by hundreds of pounds of muscled dog and snapped necks and pure wolffish carnage. I've never seen a dog maul anything but now I SURE FEEL LIKE I HAVE. It was very well filmed?? Low angle, sort of hazy, humid summery tint, contrast upped a smidge to get the grit lines and the sweat and the blades of weeds behind a bunked with a concrete deck.
